The mission of the Filipino American Historical Society of Chicago and the  Filipino American National Historical Society shall be to promote understanding, education, enlightenment, appreciation and enrichment through the identification, gathering, preservation and dissemination of the history and culture of Filipino Americans in the United States.
 
The FAHSC was established in 1986 as a 501C3 organization, registered in the state of Illinois.
 
The FANHS Greater Chicago Chapter was started on June 30, 2012 to identify, gather, preserve and promote the history and culture of the Filipino Americans in the Greater Chicago area.
